Five Minutes with Fella;
Montarna Pitt
As the founder of Sydney PR firm The Audience Agency, Montarna Pitt is a connoisseur of all things fashion, PR and lifestyle. We had a quick five minutes with Montarna to talk work, travel, home life, motherhood and to get the lowdown on a few of her favourite spots close to her heart.
Where are you based? Where are you from?
I was born and bred down under in Sydney, Australia and live there today.
What does the notion of ‘home’ mean to you?
Home isn't a place, it's a feeling of comfort and security. It's wherever my family is and the place we build memories together.
Where in the world is your favourite spot to swim?
It is hard to choose just one spot ... but if I had to, I'd say at the beach in Honolulu in front of The Royal Hawaiian floating on a donut with my husband.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
Capri, Italy.
To me, Summer feels like ...
Long balmy nights, sun kissed salty skin, my daughter playing outside in her little blow-up pool, and me with a cold glass of chardonnay in hand.
We have all been spending more time at home than ever. Have you perfected any recipes of late, and if so, would you please share your favourite with us?
I'm not the chef in my house, my husband is! (I style the table and choose the wines) Our current favourite is his snapper pie.
How did you find yourself working in your industry?
Originally, I was toying with the idea of working in architecture and interiors, or fashion design. At the time my Aunt had a best friend working in PR and the mix of media, project management and working with brands struck a chord with me. I studied media communications and interned everywhere I could to get experience.
WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?
Everywhere! Normally travel is one of my biggest inspirations but as we've been grounded for quite some time, I'm drawing on my very talented friends, lots of inspo from social media and finding bursts of creativity when I'm out in nature with my family.
Current book, podcast or playlist?
I'm pregnant with my second daughter so currently consumed by all things parenting – Tizzie Hall's Save Our Sleep, midwife Cath's podcast 'Birth, Baby, and Beyond' and my favourite playlist at the mo is my Pilates instructor's Berner Mix.
Favourite local spot?
Being pregnant and having a toddler it's hard to find time for date nights. My husband and I love to go our local Italian restaurant, Cipri, when we do have the time.
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED?
This is a tough one as I've been fortunate enough to receive so many pearls of wisdom in my time. Being a new mum the most relevant for me that I continue to remind myself is to not wish time away and enjoy every phase your kids go through because time flies and before you know it, they are onto the next and you find yourself wishing that time back. When they were newborns and so reliant on you, but now are toddlers wanting to run the show, when you had to do all the drop offs and picks up and all of a sudden, you've got a 20 year old who you don't get to play captured audience with twice a day!
Your favourite male name for future Fella style name inspiration.
I named my daughter what is traditionally a boy’s name so I have to throw that in the mix – Parker.
